Van Loon CIMM is a fully independent boutique that specializes in Consultancy, Interim Management and Mediation at the interface of real estate strategy and finance. Its core values are creativity, integrity and a strong drive to deliver results. Clients are private investors, investment funds, real estate developers and financial institutions. The company was founded in 2010 by Michiel van Loon, a senior real estate professional with more than 15 years of both operational and board level experience in real estate development, finance and restructuring.
Michiel Alexander van Loon is founder and owner of Van Loon CIMM and as such involved in many advisory and management assignments in the areas of real estate strategy, finance and restructuring, both nationally and internationally. Michiel gathered extensive real estate development and investment experience working at NBM-Amstelland and Bouwfonds Residential Development from 1994 to 2001. After joining ABN AMRO / Bouwfonds Property Finance as a Director in 2001, Michiel worked on multiple strategic assignments and originated, executed and exited numerous real estate financing transactions in The Netherlands, United Kingdom, Germany and Belgium. In 2006 Michiel joined SNS Property Finance as Managing Director for Northern Europe and worked on focusing the company to further develop its real estate financing business in Germany, Belgium and Scandinavia. Furthermore he represented the bank as a non-executive Board Member at several affiliated companies. As Chairman of the Supervisory Board Michiel successfully steered the billion-euro development scheme Übersee Quartier Hamburg, jointly owned by ING, Groß & Partner and SNS, towards groundbreaking. In 2009 he set up the Restructuring and Recovery department at SNS and was responsible for loan portfolio disposals as well. Michiel holds a Master’s degree in Management from Nyenrode Business Universiteit and also studied at Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam and INSEAD Fontainebleau. Michiel is fluent in English, German and Dutch.
